Ending the "Mommy Wars"
May, 2013
 Hello ,

It's still me - I hope you like my new picture:). There will be a few changes in my newsletter over the next little while (I will keep you posted), including my new photo!!

I'm inspired today to talk about the "Mommy Wars". Every time I hear or read this phrase, my heart drops. Throughout history, mothers have joined together to promote peace, to support one another, and to make changes in order to make the world better for everyone's children.

And now we have "Mommy Wars"??? Really? What could possibly be going wrong?

In two words, I think what's going wrong is "insecurity" and "judgement". But, more interesting to me is what can be done about the situation. And in two more word, I think what can be done about it is "understanding" and "compassion".

I think that we can build understanding by bringing moms together in a safe and supportive environment and sharing - deeply. Because when we do that, we discover that underneath all the apparent differences are many, many similarities. And we discover that the differences make us interesting, teach us things, and inspire even deeper connection. When we share our experiences with an open heart, we become vulnerable, and in vulnerability, each of us recognizes ourself, and that inspires compassion.

And then, that's it! That's all! That's the end of the war. Once I understand you, and once I see myself in you, I love you too deeply to hurt you.

If you'd like to join me in building connection, deepening understanding, and inspiring compassion, come join one of our upcoming Women's Wellness Circles. In each circle, we explore the varied experiences and equally varied expressions of motherhood.

The moms in the circles are thoughtful and deeply committed to themselves and to their families. It has been an honour for me to share in parts of their journeys along the way, and I'd love to have YOUR experience, and YOUR expression, as part of a circle.

Details of the two circles are below - if you are wondering whether the circle experience would be a fit for you, call or email me - I'd love to chat. <3

mothering is)
quietly to each other, over cups of tea
