Full Circle Parenting...by heart
Supporting Conscious Parents in Being Peaceful, Real, and Loving
(even when your children are testing you the most...)
The Plan
June, 2013
 Hello ,

I'm sure that, like me, those of you in Calgary are thinking about how you can best support those affected by the flood with the skills and resources you have.

I've put together my personal plan and I ask that you forward this email to anyone you know that may benefit from the offers or suggestions.

I've heard lots of people saying they feel guilty because they can't help more. If we all do what we can,
and encourage others to do the same, that is enough. Be gentle with yourself and give, receive, and connect where and how you can.

Free parenting coaching for flood-related issues.
If you need some ideas about how to have the conversations, how to support your child emotionally, how to re-establish routines when you're away from or returning home, or other flood-related issues, please call - whether you were "directly" affected or not. We are ALL affected by this, with feelings of vulnerability, fear, sadness, or guilt. We are all connected, and you and your children may be feeling the effects whether or not you were displaced. Also, you may just need to share your own story and be supported and listened to. I'm here to listen. Call me anytime...403-607-1463.

Shop local.
Calgary will take a big economic hit from the flood. We know that a dollar spent at a locally-owned store is usually spent 6 to 15 times before it leaves the community. Local businesses - whether goods- or service-oriented - spend locally, pay local employees, and source other local businesses for their needs. We need to circulate our dollars locally to rebuild our local economy. Go to www.REAPCalgary.com to learn more about the shop local, be local concept and its importance.
Some of my faves:
Riva's, The Ecostore (hit by flood - also provides eco-friendly building supplies, so a great resource right now)
The Light Cellar (owners home hit by flood)
Spolumbo's (hit by flood)
Restaurants that source local farms, such as The Coup, River Cafe, Boxwood, Big Fish, and Open Range.

Support Made by Momma.
Made by Momma is a great local charitable organization which accepts donations of prepared frozen food, often for special diets, and also gives opportunities for a unique range of direct support for families in need.

Support the re-opening of the YWCA and displaced mothers and children.
This Stampede-related charity event on Monday night is all about funding the YWCA, which is still closed and re-opening - hopefully - Monday, July 8th. You can attend, or donate.

Keep finding time.
Affected Calgarians will need ongoing support over the next several months. Keep checking in with the situation and finding one more way to offer help. Some of the ideas above are ongoing, so keep them in mind for the long-term.

Full Circle Parenting has already donated gift certificates to one organization putting on a flood relief event. I'd love to donate more. Please connect me with any organizations that you know of that may be looking for this kind of donation.

Now and always, please contact me if you see any way that I can be of service to the community or to individuals.

In joy,
Lisa Kathleen
