Supporting Conscious Parents in Being Peaceful, Real, and Loving

An Ode to Dads |
June, 2013 | |
Hello ,
|
I meet so many awesome dads in my work, and I really want to let you know how much I learn from you.
Gender role expectations have changed so much over the last years, and I love that dads can define themselves, not based on stereotypes, but based on the relationships they want to have with their kids. I've met babywearing dads, late-night babycuddling dads, cookin', cleanin', helping-with-weaning dads, stay-at-home dads, shift-working | dads, and dads in fairly traditional gender role dynamics, as well.
Here's what I get to see that inspires me.
Dads who realize that they, too, have intuition, and are not afraid to use it to understand their children and support their partners. Dads who humorously, gently and respectfully share their perspective with moms or kids, in a way that allows everyone to open up and understand themselves better. Dads who find ways to apply their strengths, express themselves, and grow and learn, within their family dynamic.
Dads who are ALL IN - committed to their kids 100% and willing to do hard stuff, with humour and integrity.
Single full-time dads who manage to do it all. Single dads who make use of every moment they spend with their kids to build connection, support their children, and give from their hearts, without resentment. Dads in blended families, committed to their shared children, all in, 100%.
Every year, I meet more and more dads who are defining themselves in new ways, intentionally, and with heart. I feel so incredibly lucky to get these glimpses into their families and their lives.
