I know I've been promising that email about ideas for Guidelines for Kids and Violent Play, but there's so much cool Hallowe'en stuff going on this weekend that I wanted to send my Hallowe'en email out early:).

First, a link to an article I wrote about helping children with fears. Lots of kids develop new fears around Hallowe'en time, and 3-5 year-olds are particularly prone. This will help you.
Next, as you probably know, I am a huge proponent of making Earth-conscious choices all year round. It's easy to think that choices we make for the holidays don't matter (it's only once a year!) but when we are part of a much bigger trend (Hallowe'en is second only to Christmas for mass consumerism, single-use purchases and landfill waste) it gets way spookier. AND then we have to look at the candy. I've begun to realize that anything I eat that cannot be used by my body is also wasted - I might as well just toss it in the garbage, or better yet, not get it in the first place. But, argh! I love dressing up, and I love the community aspect of going door to door. So what is an eco-friendly, health-conscious person to do?
